The Pomona Fire Department serves the City of Pomona and 4 surrounding townships comprising 93 square miles and a population of 2,800 persons from one station located in Pomona. In addition to fire suppression, the department is active in fire prevention activities in 2 elementary schools and also provides basic life support service through a First Responder program.

The department is staffed with 20 volunteers, none of whom receive compensation and many have served 10 years or more:
Chief Stan Lantis, 18 years; Assistant Chief Cloice Shepherd, 38 years; Assistant Chief Alan Radcliffe, 25 years; Captain Kevin Bowman, 15 years; and Captain Richard Harms, 12 years.

Five members of the department serve both fire and EMS duty and four additional members respond to EMS incidents only.

Pomona Fire Department responds to an average of 150 calls per year with 85% being EMS.
